264 Years of Grand Puja
Krishnanagar Rajbari (Raj Rajeshwari)

Divine Specialty & Significance

The cradle of Jagadhatri Puja in Bengal. Initiated in 1762 CE by Maharaja Krishnachandra Ray. Follows Brihannandikeshwar Purana tantric rites, royal cannon salutes, antique brass lamps, and single-day Navami Mahapuja worship of the royal mother Raj Rajeshwari.

History & Origin Lore

Maharaja Krishnachandra was imprisoned in Murshidabad by Nawab Mir Qasim for delayed revenues and missed Durga Puja. In divine revelation, Devi Jagadhatri appeared in his dream instructing him to perform this puja on Kartik Shukla Navami. Upon release, he established this sacred celebration at the Royal Palace.
